Following a meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Telegram that Ukraine is ready to accept a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire with Russia. The US has also confirmed the immediate resumption of intelligence sharing and military assistance to Ukraine.

In his Telegram post, Zelenskyy stated that the American side “understands our arguments” and “accepts our proposals,” while Kyiv has agreed to the US proposal for a full 30-day ceasefire across the entire front line, including halting rocket, drone, and bomb attacks, as well as operations in the Black Sea.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to President Trump for the constructive dialogue between their teams, noting that the US had proposed taking the first step toward establishing the ceasefire. He emphasized that Ukraine views the proposal positively and is prepared to move forward.

“Ukraine is Ready for Peace”

Zelenskyy stressed that the US must now convince Russia to agree to the ceasefire, stating, “If the Russians agree, that’s when the silence will work.” He also highlighted the significance of the US commitment to restoring defensive assistance and intelligence support to Ukraine.

“Ukraine is ready for peace,” Zelenskyy declared. “Russia must demonstrate whether it is willing to end the war or continue it. The time has come for the full truth. I thank everyone who supports Ukraine.”

“Ball is Now in Russia’s Court”

In a joint statement with Kyiv after lengthy talks in Jeddah, the US State Department announced the immediate resumption of intelligence sharing and military aid to Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that “the ball is now in Russia’s court” following the productive discussions with the Ukrainian delegation.

Rubio confirmed that the US would present the ceasefire offer to Russia, stating, “We’re going to tell them this is what’s on the table. Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking. Now it’s up to them to say yes or no.” He expressed hope that Russia would agree, which would mark significant progress toward peace.

While no specific deadline has been set, Rubio emphasized the urgency of reaching a deal “as soon as possible,” noting that the situation is a serious matter, not to be trivialized. He added that a positive response from Russia would be a crucial goodwill gesture.

Shared Vision for Peace

National Security Adviser Mike echoed the sentiment, stating that it is “very clear” Kyiv shares President Trump’s vision for peace and determination to end the conflict. Earlier in the week, Zelenskyy met briefly with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after the Ramadan fast and departed before the US delegation arrived for talks.

The developments signal a potential turning point in the conflict, with Ukraine demonstrating its readiness for peace and the US reaffirming its support. The focus now shifts to Russia’s response.
